Ever need to find where a user is coming from to help investigate latency? Here’s an EZPZ way to find their remote IP:
- Open Registry Editor as a local admin on your desktop
- Connect to the user’s desktop in the registry
- Go to HKEY_USERS\<User SID>\Volatile Environment
- View the public IP under ‘ViewClient_IP_Address’
Unsure how to find the user’s SID? If you’re already in their registry the check this path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
From here, select each SID key and check the ‘ProfileImagePath’ to identify the user. The name of the registry key will be the SID tied to the user.
